In
1999, Chris Hereth - who had been a recent victim of cutbacks
at Reebok International (thanks to Nike's market share) and who
had been a part of the Atlanta music scene for several years (in
one way or another) - was trying to launch a new business within
the music industry in the Atlanta area. After a year-long search
for business partners that had the same ambition and drive, nothing
solid came to fruition, which eventually led to negotiations with
ON4 Productions (a CD duplication/merchandise company based in
Atlanta) to bring in Hereth as their Sales Manager. After being
brought on board, ON4 experienced a tremendous growth in business,
due mostly to Hereth's networking skills and his connections in
the music industry that were established over the years. Hereth
gave ON4 its most profitable years while getting the privilege
to work with some amazing unsigned bands and independent artists,
as well as some of the biggest names in the music business, some
of which are listed here...

After
realizing that the CD replication business was getting much more
competitive (not to mention that the profit margins were shrinking),
Hereth decided that it might be a good idea to diversify, so in
2004, he started a side business called SecondEncore.com, which
was an online portal designed to get unsigned bands in front of
potential fans and key decision makers in the music industry.
About a year or so later, the owners of ON4 had made the decision
to merge with another CD replication company. Unfortunately, the
new parent company preferred to work with the corporate side of
CD manufacturing rather than work with unsigned bands. Due to
the fact that the majority of his clients and connections were
in the music industry, it was no longer a good fit for Hereth
and he decided to go full time with SecondEncore.com.
A
couple of years later, MySpace - due to its tremendous popularity
- had basically driven SecondEncore.com (and other sites like
it) into the ground. After hoping that things would turn around
and putting up a fight for a couple of years, Hereth made the
difficult decision to shut down SecondEncore.com temporarily,
hoping to come up with a new business model down the road, especially
one where he would still be able to contribute to the independent
music community. Over the course of the next couple of years,
Hereth had officially stepped away from the music industry and
ON4 Productions had basically become a memory under the "leadership"
of its new parent company, but Hereth was still receiving calls
and emails from former ON4 clients on a consistent basis, inquiring
as to where they can get their CDs manufactured. In late 2006,
the idea to turn Second Encore into a CD replication company came
to light, and after making a few phone calls with some old vendors
(as well as some new ones) and agreeing on some extremely competitive
vendor pricing, Hereth renamed his company to Second Encore Productions
and began to offer CD replication and band merchandise just as
he had done as the Sales Manager at ON4. He hasn't looked back
yet.
Since
their "rise from the ashes," Second Encore Productions
has seen tremendous growth in a short amount of time while working
with some of the best musicians and companies in the independent
music industry, some of which are listed here...
